eDrive is a scientifically proven online driver training programme that focuses on the higher-order driving skills (Visual Search, Situation Awareness, Hazard Perception, Risk Management) which are directly linked to crash risk.
eDrive was developed in 2010 in collaboration with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). NZTA’s and ACC's development funding provided free access between 2011 and 2013 for learner drivers aged 15-19 who signed up to the Practice programme.
By using state-of-the-art technology, eDrive delivers high-resolution video-based traffic simulations to the safety of your computer in an interactive and fun manner.
The programme consists of over 100 real-life driving situations filmed on NZ roads with you right in the driver’s seat. eDrive teaches you how to identify and avoid hazards and drive to the conditions of the road.
eDrive can be completed in one sitting of two to three hours but can also be spread out and tackled one section at the time whenever convenient over a period of 9 months.
Because the programme is Internet based it can be accessed from any computer and at any time of the day. Once you have completed the program you can redo all the failed checkpoints or replay the videos of the checkpoints you have passed.
