eDrive is a scientifically proven online driver training programme that focuses on the higher-order driving skills (Visual Search, Situation Awareness, Hazard Perception, Risk Management) which are directly linked to crash risk.
eDrive was developed in 2010 in collaboration with the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) and the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC). NZTA’s and ACC's development funding provided free access between 2011 and 2013 for learner drivers aged 15-19 who signed up to the Practice programme.
- is ideal for older drivers to assess and improve their hazard perception and risk management skills safely from their home.
- helps tourists to get used to New Zealand specific road conditions. The program is particularly helpful for visitors who are accustomed to driving on the right side of the road in their home country. They can experience driving on the left side without being exposed to real risk.
- helps drivers who have been off the road because of health reasons. These drivers can improve their higher-order driving skills before getting behind the wheel again.
